Since the beginning of 2018, Lân Fan Taal has been a free state that welcomes all languages. We celebrate language with – mostly freely accessible – festivals, projections, exhibitions and activities. Lân Fan Taal is also part of the Re-Opening of LF2018, and has organised a great programme for November.
Within Lân fan taal is of course a place for ‘mienskip’ (means community) projects! Below are the projects that are supported by the special LFT subsidy scheme and are related to ‘poetry’. They are all public-oriented cultural activities with special attention to multilingualism.
Making the Frisian language and multilingualism visible in public space in a playful and visual way, that is what the ‘Sichtberens’ (Frisian for visibility) project is all about!
The Frysk Diktee (Frisian Dictation) has a long and illustrious tradition. Many famous and not-so-famous Frisians attempt this ultimate language challenge each year. What an exciting idea: being “posted”, as a writer in a small/minority language, to another area in Europe with a small language, to work, blog and perform! This has been happening since 2016 as part of the literary exchange project Other Words/Oare Wurden. In 2017 and 2018, you can spot international writers “in the wild” […]
Would you like to improve your Frisian? You can do so in an easily accessible and simple way with a comprehensive online course. The Fryske MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) is for everyone, wherever you live in the world, whether you’re Frisian, a tourist, a “root-seeker” or a language student!
In the summer, Lân fan taal’s Language Caravan will be travelling through Friesland, supporting existing festivals and events with a rich programme of music and other elements centred around languages. The motto of the caravan is: ‘hjir wol ik wei, hjir wol ik altyd bliuwe’ (I want to leave this place, I want to stay […]
