Isn’t it great to sing in class? In Frisian, another language, or even in several languages? During 2017-18, schools and classes will write their own lyrics about themselves and their environment, and will audition with these for a talent contest in May. As a warm up, schools will be invited to sing along during the official opening of the Cultural Capital Year. We will put together a large children’s choir who will sing the special LF2018 song together with Nynke Laverman and the Noord Nederlands Orkest!
The 2018 song is called “Seis oere thús”, and is about looking forward. The Noord Nederlands Orkest and singer/songwriter Nynke Laverman will perform the song live during the opening weekend of the Cultural Capital (27-29 January 2018). As many schools as possible will be invited to sing along!
And this is just the start of the multilingual Sjong festival. “Backing tracks” and special teaching materials will be available for primary schools writing their own songs. The classes from the middle and upper years who take part in the auditions with their own songs will then compete for eight places in the grand finale. During the final song contest – part of the City Proms in Leeuwarden – prizes will be awarded for best performance and best lyrics.
For the middle and upper years of primary education. We offer inspiration and tips & tricks for teachers, together with KEK2’s inspiration programmes. And even a singer-songwriter in class.
