The Sea! The Sea!

In 2018, Lân fan taal will travel throughout Friesland with the Language Caravan, a travelling festival. In Harlingen, the caravan will join the Tall Ships Races. Programme element The Sea! The Sea! is an ode to the sea, which has its own language.

Main program

Did you know that the Oldehove will become a spectacular projection screen during 2018? And that’s something to celebrate! That’s why Lân fan taal and Explore the North are organising three mini festivals in the heart of Leeuwarden. The projections are a fine excuse and source of inspiration.

The Language Caravan

Main program

In 2018, the Language Caravan festival will travel throughout Friesland. In this way, Lân fan taal will connect with existing festivals and events and enhance them with a rich, linguistic (musical) programme!

Ground frost, dew on empty washing lines, frost on the window. Winter strikes hard in the historic heart of Leeuwarden. Time for a festival that warms you from the inside!

Liwwadders! Our present, past and future.

Main program

In Leeuwarden, the city dialect (Liwwadders) is spoken in addition to Frisian and many other languages. It is also the name of the floating pavilion in the canal at the edge of the Prinsentuin.

Liet XXL

Secondary program

Liet, a festival that includes a Frisian-language, musical talent contest, was founded in 1991. In 2002, Liet became international and offered a podium to bands in all lesser-known European languages from such regions as Lapland, Brittany and Asturias. And in 2018, Liet will become XXL!
